Featured Garden: Sonoma County Landscape Design & Installation
This older home on the west side of Santa Rosa had last been landscaped in the 1950’s with wall to wall grass, five junipers and a tree. It had become infested with weeds and bare spots, and was badly in need of an updated look.
Details designed a garden that began with a Connecticut bluestone entry walk from the front door which then splits in two directions to meet the driveway, creating two small planting areas. The new lawn, much smaller and more manageable than the old lawn, bordered the entry walkway and featured several planting cutouts.
At the far end of this front yard, back under mature redwoods, a three-tiered redwood arbor was constructed over a small flagstone patio. This arbor served to add vertical interest and provide a destination retreat to relax in the shady part of the garden.
